​Twice a year, the Evergreens Cemetery offers a 6-week paid training opportunity for NYC Veterans interested in working outdoors and acquiring job skills in landscape care. Hands-on training and  classroom instruction takes place on the beautiful grounds of the Evergreens, a 225-acre historic rural cemetery in Brooklyn and Queens. The Evergreens is a certified Arboretum, Level II, with rolling green hills, winding paths, open green terrain and 3,000 trees.

 

The program includes hands-on outdoor training, OSHA30 & Site Safety 10 Training, classroom instruction, job readiness instruction and placement assistance, work and safety clothing and equipment, a weekly MTA pass and more.

Veterans receive a $1,000 stipend at the conclusion of the training. To qualify, Veterans need to be located in the 5 boroughs and present a copy of their DD214. ​

The deadline was extended for Fall 2026 cohort; we are still accepting resumes on a rolling basis until Friday, October 2nd.
