OUR STORY

The Evergreens Cemetery is a historic cemetery in the 'rural' style, designed by noted landscape architect Andrew Jackson Downing. It was incorporated in 1849 and covers 225 acres. Over 532,000 people are buried here, including notables such as tap legend Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, jazz musician Lester Young, and painter Martin Heade. The Cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We offer a variety of burial options, and are committed to making our green space available to the public through a wide variety of public programs.
